Properties: Menthol is a terpenoid organic compound, which is extracted from the leaves and stems of peppermint, white crystals, and it’s the main component of peppermint and peppermint essential oil.
Menthol is flammable and has a special aroma of peppermint. It is easily dissolved in ethanol, chloroform, ether, liquid paraffin or volatile oil, and slightly dissolved in water.
Application
1) In terms of food, menthol can be used as a flavoring agent for beverages and candies.
2) In terms of medicine, menthol is used as a stimulant, acting on the skin or mucous membranes, and has a cooling and antipruritic effect; it can be used
orally as a carminative for headaches, nose, pharynx, and laryngitis.
3) In terms of flavors, menthol is widely used in daily flavors, food flavors, and tobacco flavors.
4) In terms of daily chemicals, menthol is used as a special additive in toothpaste, perfume and other products.
