Cobalt chloride is a red monoclinic crystal, which is easy to deliquescence. Melting point 724℃, easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether and acetone.
Cobalt chloride crystals are stable at room temperature, lose crystal water when heated, turn blue, and turn red again in humid air. It is Mainly used as paint drier, ammonia gas absorption, gas mask, dry and wet indicator, electroplating, ceramic colorant and pharmaceutical reagent, etc.
Application
Rechargeable Battery Materials: Pure battery-grade cobalt and nickel sulfate for the production of nickel-cobalt-aluminum oxide (NCA) and nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide (NMC) for automotive and stationary power applications.
Agriculture: Animal Feed: Cobalt is an essential compound in the animal feed industry, where it is the base and promoter of vitamin B12 synthesis in ruminants such as sheep and cattle, methylcobalamin.
Fertilizers: Cobalt is added to fertilizers used on grasslands where ruminants graze to induce B12 production.
Ceramics and Glass: To meet the specific needs of each color application in the ceramic industry.
Electronics and Electromagnetics: Widely used in the production of varistors, thermistors and magnets.
Industrial catalysts Cobalt chloride cobalt hydroxide, cobalt nitrate and cobalt carbonate are vital precursors in HDS catalyst production and GTL applications. The same complementary salts can be used in nickel.
Rubber and tires: Cobalt hydroxide, cobalt chloride or cobalt sulfate are used as rubber adhesion promoters (RAP) in tires or other rubber applications
Surface treatment: Nickel sulfate is used in electroplating and electroless plating industry.
UPR catalysts: used as accelerators for unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) and gel coats
