A mixture of diethyltoluene diamine isomers, that is, a commercial mixture of two isomers: 3,5-diethyl-2,4-diaminotoluene (3,5-Diethyl-toluene-2,4- diamine) 76% and 3,5-diethyl-2,6-diaminotoluene (3,5-Diethyl-toluene-2,6-diamine) 24%, referred to as DETDA. It is light yellow to reddish brown transparent liquid with ammonia smell at room temperature, slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, ketone and other polar organic solvents, and has good compatibility with polyether and polyester polyols. Long-term exposure to the air will darken the color. Diethyltoluenediamine is flammable and highly corrosive. Skin and eye contact can cause irritation and severe burns. It is harmful if swallowed. There is a lack of specific toxicity data. Its toxicity can refer to toluenediamine.

Diethyltoluene diamine is used as chain extender for reaction injection molding polyurethane, curing agent for polyurethane coating, epoxy resin and alkyd resin. Pesticides, dye intermediates, plastics, rubber, oil antioxidants.
Diethyltoluene diamine is an aromatic diamine curing agent for polyurethane elastomers and epoxy resins, used for casting, coatings, adhesives, and chain extenders for polyurethane and polyurea elastomers. It has a fast reaction speed with polyurethane prepolymer, and is mainly used for reaction casting polyurethane system and spray polyurethane (urea) elastic coating system. It has fast reaction speed, short demoulding time, high initial strength, hydrolysis resistance and heat resistance of the product advantage. In addition, this product can also be used as an antioxidant for elastomers, lubricants and industrial oils, and as an intermediate for chemical synthesis
