Barium hydroxide (octahydrate) is a chemical compound, CAS No. 12230-71-6, alias barium hydroxide octahydrate. It is a white monoclinic crystal. It is mainly used in the petroleum industry as a multi-effective additive. It is also used in barium-based greases and oil refining, sugar production from beets, as a raw material for plastics and rayon, and as a resin stabilizer. Also used in organic synthesis and in the manufacture of other barium salts, in the softening of water, and in the glass and enamel industries.
Application
1. Used in chemical, light industry, medicine and other industries, mainly for the manufacture of barium salts, multi-effective additives in the petroleum industry, etc.
2. Mainly used in the petroleum industry as a multi-effective additive. It is also used in barium-based grease and oil refining.
3. Used as stabilizer for the production of plastics, rubber vulcanization catalyst, rayon treatment agent, boiler hard water softener, ore flux, etc.
4. Used as hardening agent for synthetic rubber, preservative, hard water softener, etc.
5. For the determination of carbon dioxide in air, refined sugar and animal oil.
